An old video of then-President of Ghana John Mahama splashing money at an event has surfaced.
In the viral video, John Mahama was captured taking out huge sums of money from a white envelope and proceeding to splash it on some cultural performers at an event while they were singing and playing their instruments.
John Mahama’s video has resurfaced after Ghanaians on social media have been bashing President Akufo-Addo for handling cash in public.
According to one X user, in his whole life, he has never seen a president of a country holding cash in public, another user quizzed if presidents are supposed to take money like that in public.
One X user identified as Bawumia’s archives wrote, “Breaking protocol. Ah Nana Addo paa, his handlers are a disappointment. How is that so urgent that it can’t wait? The image of the president must be protected at all cost. Handing over cash to the president in public paa, ah NPP oo daabi! Shameful”.
In the viral video that has emerged President Akufo-Addo was captured sandwiched between the Greater Accra minister Nii Kwartei Titus Glover and the minister of Roads and Highway Francis Asenso-Boakye.
In the eleven-second video shared on X by EDHUB, President Akufo-Addo was captured receiving a large sum of cash visibly 200 cedis notes from an unidentified man in public.
The unidentified man took the money out of his purse and handed it over to the President who hurriedly placed the money in his pocket.
