The United States on Monday announced a visa restriction policy for individuals Washington deems responsible for undermining democracy in Ghana, ahead of the ahead of the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
This policy will apply to specific individuals and is not directed at the Ghanaian people or the government of Ghana.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the policy will apply to those who manipulate or rig the electoral process, intimidate voters or civil society organizations, or abuse human rights
“This visa restriction policy would apply only to specific individuals who undermine democracy and is not directed at the Ghanaian people nor the government of Ghana,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
