Some lecturers from the University of Ghana, have in an unexpected display of political engagement, taken to the streets of Accra, rallying support for John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Traditionally known for their intellectual discourse and political neutrality, these lecturers, are now at the center of public attention as they are seen actively campaigning for the opposition party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
They were seen, dressed in NDC-branded shirts walking through the streets of Accra, and calling on citizens to support Mahama’s bid to return to power.
Their act has sparked both excitement and debate among the public, with many viewing this move as a rare demonstration of open political activism by a sector that usually stays within the limit of academia.
