The Fetish Priests Association of Ghana, led by its President Kwaku Bonsam, has announced their plans to stage a nationwide protest to address the ongoing menace of galamsey.
In an interview on Kasapa FM, Kwaku Bonsam expressed concerns about the current environmental destruction caused by galamsey stating that it has reached an unacceptable level destroying the country’s natural resources, particularly water bodies and forests.
According to him, the association, which boasts of over 2,000 members from across Ghana, is ready to take strong measures to protect the nation’s natural resources.
“The Fetish Priests Association is not only planning a peaceful demonstration but is also preparing for a spiritual approach to deal with those involved in galamsey he disclosed.
Kwaku Bonsam cautioned those responsible and involved in the act of illegal mining to refrain else within two weeks of their protest, there would be consequences, including “unexplained curses and deaths”.
This announcement comes as the nation continues to battle the issue of galamsey, with numerous stakeholders advocating for stronger and effective measures to be put in place to end the practice.
