Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association have rescheduled their three day protest over immediate employment from government.
The association earlier scheduled today October 23 to 25, 2024 to protest in demand of immediate Employment after over two years of completing their Mandatory Rotation without a job.
The protesters, comprising graduates from the 2020, 2021, and 2022 batches, hail from various public universities and Nursing Training Colleges.
Despite extensive public announcements encouraging more members to join the protest, the numbers remained low. However, the few participants remained determined to voice their frustrations.
Many of the unemployed nurses and midwives have been forced to seek alternative job opportunities due to the delay in their postings.
The Ministry of Health had announced on July 25, 2024, that 15,200 Financial Clearances would be issued,to cover the 2020 batch and part of the 2021 batch.
However, members of the 2020 batch have been unable to access the portal to receive their clearances, which has since been closed.
National President of the Association Haruna Ibrahim said they will hit the streets on October 30.
