John Mahama the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has quizzed President Akufo-Addo on when he plans to resign.
According to John Mahama, then in opposition, Akufo-Addo claimed he would resign when the cedi was 2 cedi to 1 dollar.
Speaking on a campaign platform Mahama stated, “I am going to add one more question he is on video, and he said that Kufuor time,1 cedi 1 dollar, Mahama and Mills time, 2 cedi 1 dollar, and that if he was Mills and Mahama he would resign, I am asking him today 1 dollar 17 cedis when is he going to resign?”, he added.
“He should tell the people of Ghana when he going to resign, and he should apologize to the people of Ghana for the hardship that he has subjected us to instead of going in peace with his vice president he wants to force his vice president on the people of Ghana”.
John Mahama further asked President Akufo-Addo who he thought he was to say he would not hand over to Mahama and that it was the people of Ghana who would decide who he would hand over to.
He added that the reason why they are afraid of handing over to him is because of accountability because they are not going to let government officials who have stolen monies go scot-free.
