Three individuals have sustained injuries in Agyako Buoho, located in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region, due to a chieftaincy dispute.
Residents report that the chief of Agyako Buoho, Nana Yaw Boateng, and his elders are attempting to install a new Gyaasehene who is not from a royal family, sparking tensions within the community.
They also alleged that the chief is extorting money from them over the lands they already owned.
Attempt by the resident to prevent the Chief and his elders to enstool the Gyaasehene has resulted in clash between the residents and the chief’s guards.
Following the clash, three people have sustained injuries.
Former presiding member of Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly, Duncan Nkrumah Opoku added that the Gyaasehene the chief and his elders are trying to install must be selected from Tano Family as customs demands.
“Even though we have petitioned Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu about the issue but still Nana Yaw Boateng wants to go ahead and install illegitimate Gyaasehene this evening “.
Macho men were deployed by the Chief to assault the residents even with the intervention of the police, he confirmed.
The residents are therefore calling on Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and Regional Police Command to restore peace in the area.
