Seth Panwum Boyoyo, Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), believes player commitment to the Black Stars is faltering because of the influx of foreign-born players into the team.
According to him, these players do not have passion for the country, but argues local based players have immense commitment and passion to the nation, making them prized possessions.
Mr. Boyoyo believes that giving opportunities to Ghanaian born local players with an understand and appreciation of what it means to wear the Black Stars jersey, is far more superior to having a player born abroad with Ghanaian heritage.
He advocated for 4 or 5 Ghana Premier League players to be included in the Black Stars starting 11 to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports.
“There should be a quote of about 4-5 local players in the Black Stars and that will curb the commitment problem,” Seth Panwum Boyoyo said urging the committee to suggest it to Parliament as a national team policy.
