Former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Dufuor says Ghana lacks committed and sincere leaders to drive the country’s desired vision and development into fruition.
Dr. Dufuor who withdrew from the flag bearer contest against John Dramani Mahama in the NDC shared that, with the resources that the country is blessed with, Ghana is supposed to be par with the greatest nations in the world but for lack of sincerity on the part of all leaders, the country is still stunted in growth.
According to the former Finance Minister, the country’s debt issue is always skyrocketing because successive leaders have failed to focus on financial resource mobilization from within the environment of the nation. He added that instead of focusing on mobilising funds internally from the country, all leaders resort to borrowing from the international market which burdens the economic functions of the country.
He stressed that most of the time, the type of borrowing Ghanaian leaders go in for, are for the wrong reasons which later leads to uncomfortable imposition on the citizens by the government. He also maintained in as much as all the leaders have not been committed and sincere, the NDC have always remained the best managers of the economy than the NPP.
