Sports analyst Nana Kwaku Agyemang has criticized President Akufo-Addo’s decision to dismiss the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Dodzie Numekevor, following CAF’s withdrawal of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium’s license. Mr. Agyemang argues that this move will ultimately be ineffective, as the government is likely to appoint someone highly educated but lacking knowledge in stadium management.
His comments come in the wake of Mr. Numekevor’s dismissal and the controversy surrounding individuals who rented the Baba Yara Stadium for a church program just six days before the AFCON 2025 qualifier against Angola. A communique from the President, signed by Nana Badiatuo Asante, Secretary to the President, announced that Mr. Numekevor’s appointment has been terminated with immediate effect and that he is to hand over his office to the chairman of the Governing Board of the Authority.
Sports analyst Nana Kwaku Agyemang Agyemang stated that the termination will amount to nothing, as they will likely bring in someone without the necessary experience to effectively manage a stadium.
