Investigative Journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has reacted to a viral video of students at Tema Senior High School sitting on the floor due to a lack of chairs in their classrooms.
According to him, Tema Senior High School is in Greater Accra with this situation and revealed some rural basic and secondary schools are even worse than the situation in Temasco.
The investigative Journalist questioned how students in such a situation would turn up should the government pay their school fees but neglect to provide for their teaching and learning needs.
He wrote on X, “The heads of schools are afraid to complain because they fear victimization from the government. At the end of the day, the government boasts about the numbers that go through secondary school and credits that to the Free SHS policy. But would you like your son or daughter to go through this?”
“This is a school in the Greater Accra Region. Some rural basic and secondary schools are worse than this”, he added.
Tema Secondary School is a day and boarding school established and commissioned on 22nd September 1961, by Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
