Embattled former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has called for an immediate apology to be issued to Ghana’s former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, for gross disrespect shown by a communicator of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Anyidoho’s demand follows the circulation of a viral video in which an NDC communicator, identified as Dela, insulted the former president during a live television interview. In the interview, Dela stated, “I respect myself a lot, and Kufuor must also respect himself. I am not some 30-year-old boy for Kufuor to say, I came to sit on TV and is just talking. We all saw what Kufuor did in shortchanging Ghanaians, and now all the bad things he has done in this nation have landed him in a wheelchair.”
Reacting to the video, the former NDC Deputy General Secretary expressed his disappointment on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “God forbid that I, Koku Anyidoho, ever endorse such gross indiscipline because of politics. Let’s give honor and respect to our elders.”
Anyidoho further demanded that the NDC’s presidential candidate sanction the communicator and issue a public apology to the former president and all persons living with disability. He stated, “I expect John Mahama himself (not his office) to openly condemn this boy and apologize to Prez Kufuor as well as ALL persons with disabilities.”
This incident follows reports of former President John Agyekum Kufuor endorsing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as “the best choice to lead the country, especially during the current economic crisis.”
