Some farmers in the South Dayi constituency, have had their farms and crops suffer, and productivity at an all time low as they have not received fertilizers allocated to them by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The fertilizers which have been locked up at the office of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Godwin Kwame Dadzawa of the area have not been distributed to the farmers because of a stalemate between the DCE, and Member of Parliament (MP), Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor.
According to Godwin Kwame Dadzawa, the DCE who is an appointee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the MP, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on his campaign trail told the chiefs and people within the community that “they have given him (MP) fertilizers and I (DCE) am refusing to give it to him.”
The DCE was questioned about this, which he said the MP had never come to him for fertilizers for he refused to give them to him.
He insists the MP is just trying to use that falsehood to score cheap political points.
When asked why he did not approach the MP to clarify issues, the DCE angrily retorted, “Never. I won’t give him that respect. He is not about me and I cannot give him that respect because of the way he is behaving.”
