Netflix has disclosed that over 60 million households worldwide tuned into the streaming platform to watch the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
Initially, Jake Paul reported that 120 million viewers watched the fight on Netflix globally. Netflix after releasing its 60 million figures however did not refute and agree to Jake Paul’s claims, but says it will release further viewing statistics in the coming days.
The event, which was free for subscribers, is being hailed by the tech giant as a “record-breaking night”.
However, some boxing enthusiast who hoped to watch the match expressed anger and disappointment over the streaming platform crashed repeatedly throughout the fight.
Those who were able to stream the fight have also described it as mediocre and uninteresting.
In the bout, which took place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, former world heavyweight champion Tyson, 58, was beaten by YouTuber-turned-fighter Paul, 27.
The fight attracted a huge amount of media coverage. Tyson is one of the most famous boxers on the planet, while Paul drew in a younger audience.
There was a star-studded ringside audience including Charlize Theron, Ralph Macchio, Joe Jonas and Hasan Minhaj.
