Media personality Serwaa Amihere has called on protesters of #FreeTheCitizens to peacefully protest against illegal mining and demand the release of 53 remanded demonstrators.
Her calls come on the back of thousands of Ghanaian youth who are currently marching through the principal streets of Accra with two clear demands; the release of the 53 remanded democracy hub protestors and an end to illegal mining activities that are wreaking havoc on the country’s water bodies and forest reserves.
Protestors clad in red and black attire converged at Okponglo in the early hours of this morning and marched through shiashie and are currently headed towards the Association International School to Kawukudi Junction and then to the Parliament House where a petition will be presented to the house.
Serwaa Amihere took to her X spaces formerly twitter to advise and encourage the demonstrators to protest peacefully to avoid anyone getting arrested.
‘’Dear Ghanaian youth, we are on a good course to draw attention to those in authority to end the life-threatening situation of illegal mining’’.
‘’Please let’s stay safe, protest peacefully, and don’t give the Police the slightest chance of arresting anyone for breaking any law, Serwaa Amihere stated.
