The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Jane Naana has responded to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s allegations claiming the NDC developed an LGBTQ curriculum for school children.
Speaking on a campaign platform in Kumasi-Bantama NAPO accused the NDC led by Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa of including comprehensive sexuality education in the curriculum for school children.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh stated boldly, “The NDC had already developed a curriculum that include school children being taught that thing, the person who brought it was Okudzeto Ablakwa, they took Pastors and Imams to towns and communities and told teachers to teach how a boy kisses a boy, how a female and a female sleep together”
Reacting to the NAPO allegation Prof. Jane Naana speaking in an interview said, “Eeii is that what he is saying, and a long time he hasn’t said anything about it, why has he kept long, we all need prayers that is all I will say, he is the one alleging let him proof, he should bring the documents that show we brought a curriculum with LGBTQ+, I am saying he should bring it”.
In 2018, the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education for school children was proposed by the government, it sparked negative reactions from Ghanaians, fighting against the idea of introducing issues relating to sexuality to children at a very young age. Some of the speculations highlighted around fears of sensitization on sexuality and LGBTQ ideas.
