Member of Parliament, for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has alleged that a President Akuffo Addo’s Daughters are deeply involved in illegal mining, known us ‘galamsey,’ operations.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana hosted by Randy Abbey, Ablakwa claimed that this cabal, including close associates of the President, is benefiting from mining licenses granted across various regions in Ghana.
Ablakwa disclosed that the group operates through a company called Elite Minerals Ghana Limited, which has been granted multiple mining licenses, including one for the Kwaebibirem Forest in the Eastern Region.
He claimed to have documents and footage proving their operations and the environmental destruction caused.
Additionally, Ablakwa revealed that the cabal attempted to secure exclusive concessions for gold, lithium, and salt in different regions, but faced opposition from local chiefs.
He further alleged that the cabal has only paid minimal taxes despite generating significant revenue from their operations.
According to Ablakwa, between 2021 and 2024, Elite Minerals made over 53 million cedis in revenue but only paid 132,000 cedis in taxes, a figure he described as shockingly low.
Ablakwa expressed frustration over the government’s inaction against the cabal, stating that the President appears “incapacitated” in dealing with their activities.
He vowed to continue exposing their operations and bringing attention to the harm caused by illegal mining in the affected communities.
