A 37-year-old Ivorian man reportedly took his own life by poisoning himself in Kasoa Krispocity, Awutu Senya East Municipality, after his girlfriend informed him of her pregnancy.
According to sources, the deceased’s body was discovered behind a filling station, with a mobile phone beside him.
Residents contacted his girlfriend using a saved number, and she confirmed that he was her boyfriend, residing in the Volta Region.
However, he had fled after learning of her pregnancy.
Reports suggest that the girlfriend’s father is strict and might have taken legal action against the deceased, prompting his escape to Kasoa.
Eyewitnesses claim that local residents noticed the man wandering in the area over the weekend but did not assist him.
The police have been criticized for not responding promptly to calls when the man was found unconscious in a nearby bush.
The body has been sent to the police hospital for autopsy and preservation.”
