Hidden agenda behind police road blocks in Accra exposed The Ghana Police Service, have used a ‘Special Operation’ excuse to block major roads leading to the Jubilee House.
Police announced roadblocks and diversions for special operation in Accra yesterday, Friday 20th September, 2024.
The special Police operation has resulted in a number of road diversions and roadblocks starting September 21, 2024.
Routes affected suspiciously all lead to the Jubilee House, seat of the presidency.
Prior to the closure of these routes, the Democracy Hub had planned a demonstration against illegal mining, but the police secured an injuction against them, citing concerns of possible public disorder due to the chosen venue, the Jubilee House.
The group however decided to embark on the demonstration today, Saturday 21, 2024, going against police advice.
The group which still planned to have the demonstration in front of the Jubilee House have been blocked from accessing the route leading to the venue, thus 37 Military Hospital. This has caused a stalemate between demonstrat9Gjana ors and police, with tensions rising.
