The personnel of the Ghana Police Service and Customs officers have engaged in heavy gunfire at the Missiga Immigration Service checkpoint in Bawku.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 9, 2024.
Reliable security sources indicate tempers flared up after some Police officers refused to allow the official from the Customs office to inspect the contents of a truck heading to neighboring Togo.
The Customs suspected the truck was smuggling cocoa beans and demanded to investigation, tempers flared when the Police officers at the immigration checkpoint in resisted.
Both state security agencies resulted in a heavy gunfire exchange, while some members were seen running for cover.
However. the timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces brought the situation under control.
