The Electoral Commission has disqualified the People’s National Convention, the People’s National Party, and two other parties from participating in the upcoming presidential elections on December 7.
Out of 17 candidates who filed to contest, only 13 have been approved.
This announcement follows months of political campaigns and thorough qualification checks to ensure candidates met the required criteria.
Among those disqualified is Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention, who had expressed ambitions to disrupt the existing leadership duopoly in the nation.
Notably approved candidates include Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Both candidates are vying to sway voters with promises of economic reform, improved infrastructure, and enhanced social services as they prepare for a highly anticipated election season.
