A protestor who joined in the #SayNoToGalamsey protest has revealed that many people are going blind in Ahafo Ano North due to mercury found in Galamsey water in the area.
The protestor stated she came all the way to support stop galamsey because government has the power to stop galamsey.
Speaking in an interview with 3news, the protestor stated, “ if you go to my constituency, I have a number of people who have gone blind due to the mercury, I have screened them so I am saying this based on fact enough is enough our roads are destroyed, our farms are destroyed, it is like we have no future, it is about time we fight for our rights”.
She stated the government promised the youth of the country better but if she looks around about 80 percent youths has no jobs. “The youth can’t afford three square meal is that how we want? That is not what we want, we want a better Ghana and want galamsey to stop,” she lamented.
