Ace investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has alleged that powerful government official wanted shares in the PDS deal.
In a social media post on X, the investigative Journalist detailed, “But do you know why the PDS deal failed? Sources close to the agreement said some powerful government officials wanted to take over ownership of PDS after the contract was signed. They wanted shares, and when the shareholders of PDS resisted, they scuttled it”.
He added a close source to President Akufo-Addo revealed this to him, Manasseh Azure further hinted at more details of the PDS scandal in his book titled “The President Ghana Never Got”.
The Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal was a controversial deal that saw the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government award a 25-year concession to PDS to manage the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The deal was signed in March 2019, but was terminated in July 2019 following allegations of fraud.
