The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has challenged NPP flagbearer and vice president of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to pay NABCO trainees their allowance arrears.
John Mahama noted that in 2018 Nana Addo and Bawumia called Ghanaian youths to Independence Square and promised them jobs after they completed the NABCO program but today majority of them are back in their homes.
Speaking on a campaign platform John Mahama challenged Dr. Bawumia saying, “They told them if they were done with the NABCO training they would be given jobs, as I am speaking to you now, 3 years after have passed, and the NABCO trainees are sad, they have spoken and spoken but the president and the vice president is not listening”.
“When they were done you did not give them a job, a lot of them are at home, during the training the allowances they were supposed to give them there are several months of arrears, the NABCO training has been making noise, and I have even seen a lot of petitions they have written, however, the vice president who wants to become president are you not sad about these youths”, he added.
John Mahama added, “If it is true that your heart desires to create jobs for the youths, if you want to tell Ghanaians it is true, the NABCO trainees pay them their allowance, so we know it is true that you want to create jobs for the youths when you come into the office”.
“How much is the NABCO allowance, 700 cedis, 700 cedis a month, even that there are arrears, and you cannot pay, now you are telling Ghanaian youths that when you come you are going to create jobs for them”, he added.
