The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of TUC-Ghana has warned of an indefinite strike beginning Monday, November 18, 2024, if the government fails to resolve the ongoing delays in finalizing and implementing the Conditions of Service for staff within
the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Library Authority, Museums and Monuments Board, Public Technical Universities, and Public Universities.
The union expressed frustration over the prolonged negotiations, which have been ongoing for several years.
TEWU members say they can no longer work under the uncertainty of unimplemented agreements, especially as the new academic year progresses, including the admission process for first-year students.
In a statement, the union called on the government to urgently address the issues or face industrial action that could disrupt the education sector.
The union’s patience, they say, is running thin, and they are prepared to take action if their concerns are not resolved promptly.
