OSP petitioned to investigate GRA over property rate

Assembly members of the Ho municipal assembly petitioned Special Prosecutor to Investigation into Property Rate Revenues Collected by Ghana Revenue Authority and Distribution to Assemblies.

The coalition of district assembly members petitioned office of the special prosecutor to investigate into property rate revenue collected by the Ghana Revenue Authority GRA.

During a press conference in Ho ,the Presiding member of the assembly Mr Mawunyo Agbe explained that, the Coalition of District Assembly Members (CODAM), respectfully submit this petition requesting a comprehensive investigation into the collection and distribution of property Rate revenues by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and its associated secret conspirator,

Digital City Solutions Ltd (DCS) through myassembly.gov.gh account payment platform solely managed by Digital City Solutions Ltd.

According to him, in line with resolutions passed by various Assemblies, including Ho Municipal Assembly Resolution dated 14th September,2023 and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly dated 31st July 2023, MMDAs across Ghana faced significant financial difficulties due to the illegal action by the above mentioned institution and entity from the beginning of 2023 to 2024.

The assembly members urge that, the report should be made available to the public to enhance transparency and accountability. Addi that, the financial challenges facing the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies are urgent and require immediate action, since this action seem to be a looting system that crippled the Assemblies to be financially on their knees.

Ensuring proper management and distribution of property rate revenues collected by GRA and DCS is critical for the effective operation of these local bodies and the well-being of the communities they serve.
