Following government’s failure to address the menace of illegal mining (galamsey) as demanded by Organised Labour, the union has declared a nationwide strike effective October 10, 2024.
The strike action will see all workers staying home from Thursday October 10, 2024 to compel government to take an action on galamsey.
Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of the TUC, in a statement, noted that “Following the expiration of our deadline, and the failure of the government to meet our demands on illegal mining, Organised Labour has decided to declare a nationwide strike with effect from October 10, 2024.”
The group has exhausted the deadline given the government (end of September) for it to take an action against galamsey. However, the failure of the government to take any action has resulted in Organized Labour ultimately embarking on the demonstration.
