Ghanaian screen goddess and budding Actress, Gloria Sarfo has called out organizers of the just ended African Movies Academy Awards for purchasing fake flight tickets for a score of Ghanaian Movie industry players who were invited for the event.
The event night which took place in Lagos on November 2, 2024 forms one of the nights that bring together heavyweights in the African Movie Industry was marred with Ghanaian industry bigwigs being denied boarding their flights. Even though it was a big night for Jackie Appiah, a score of the big film makers in Ghana could not attend.
In a post event video, the budding actress and on-air personality, Gloria Sarfo, was seen complaining about the embarrassing moment the organizers of the Awards Night put them through. She said all the big film makers in the like of Akorfa Edjeani, Abdul Salam Mumuni and some media men were all denied their flight entry because the tickets purchased for them were reported to them as fake.
“You can’t tell me that you are inviting me with an All-expense paid trip invitation and then I end up stranded at the airport… The embarrassment, we stood at the Airport for hours. It was embarrassing. Why will they do that?”, she quizzed.
Gloria, who could not come to terms with the situation the organizers put she and her other colleagues through. She kept questioning why will they do that? She also revealed that calls had to be made to other actors who were on their way to return due to the situation at the airport.
Recounting on the bizarre treatment meted out to then by the organizers, Gloria Sarfo bemoaned how bad the treatment was being “bounced” by Airport officials. She also recounted how nice Ghanaian producers are to Nigerian Film makers when they invite them over to Ghana for awards night and even movie features.
She further counted loss in the activities she gave up for the awards night only to be met with such embarrassment. She also called on her colleagues to call it a stop, the unfair treatments Nigerian Film Makers continue to put Ghanaian Film makers and Actors through.
“… Like I said I had a lot of things to do I missed a movie set, a feature film by a colleague, I kissed a shirt film, I missed an awards night that I was nominated , I also missed going for my movie premier”, she added.
