Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has asked the anti-galamsey taskforce to pursue the main culprits behind the menace, rather than arrest and beat innocent workers at these galamsey sites.
A video he shared on his X page showed military men who are part of the anti-galamsey taskforce lining up and beating up four (4) young men who had been arrrested at a galamsey pit.
Shatta Wale who posted this video on his X handle added a text which read, “Oh chale why are they beaten these innocent guys”
The fight against galamsey in Ghana has once again been resurrected after Ghanaian youth, religious bodies and other advocacy groups embarked on a series of demonstrations calling for government to place a ban on galamsey, and put in place measures to safeguard the nations water bodies and forest reserves.
It is however believed that the fight against galamsey will once again yield futile results as some politicians and some influential perosns in Ghana are involved in the illegality.
