The National Sports Authority has finally declared that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, best known as the spiritual home grounds for the national team and also Kumasi Asante Kotoko, is now fit and ready to host games.
The stadium had been closed because the Confederation of African Football (CAF) withdrew its license for international games due to the poor state of the field. After its closure for maintenance and servicing, the stadium has been declared fit, calling for the return of GPL games and other football related activities.
They also promised to keep up with a maintenance culture after every session of game that is hosted there to ensure that, the facility stays fit for CAF’s approval. Even though Kotoko has adopted the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium as their new home grounds after the Baba Yara Stadium was closed down, the NSA shared that, the team will be returning to their spiritual home grounds.
Meanwhile it remains unclear whether the Black Stars will use the Baba Yara for their final Group F AFCON qualifiers against Niger or they will stick with the Accra Sports Stadium.
