National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu North Constituency, Eric Edem Agbana, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its “dishonest and inconsistent” campaign tactics.
Speaking on TV3’s NewDay morning show, Agbana responded to the NPP’s previous comparison of their campaign strategy to that of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, which he believes has now backfired.
According to Agbana, the NPP had previously circulated images of a campaign bus used by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, branding it as similar to the bus used by Kamala Harris during her U.S. election campaign.
Agbana mocked the NPP for drawing parallels between the two, citing their claims that both campaigns used buses in the same colors red, white, and blue and were similarly branded.
At the time, the NPP had hoped to associate their campaign with Harris’s, believing she would win the U.S. elections and that it would boost their prospects here in Ghana.
“I have pictures of the NPP’s National Communications Director, Richard Ahiagba, and a delegation from the party attending a Democratic Congress event. They were clearly hoping for a win by the Democrats, especially Kamala Harris”.
“They thought her success in the U.S. would somehow influence the political landscape here, but look at where we are now it’s backfired.”
Agbana went on to accuse the NPP of being “dishonest” by constantly shifting their position to align with whatever narrative they believe will work at the moment.
He criticized their lack of consistency, saying, “You cannot just change positions to suit the times, especially when you know that the narrative is not grounded in truth.”
