Efua Ghartey, wife of former Attorney General and Member if Parliament for Essikado, Joe Ghartey, has been elected as the Ghana Bar Association President at the Association’s annual conference held in Kumasi, after two attempts.
This makes her the first female President of the Ghana Bar Association.
Efua Gartey gathered a total of 1,208 votes while her opponent Kwadzo Dzakpasu secured a total of 1,060 votes.
The seasoned lawyer of over 30 years has finally made history after three unsuccessful attempts.
She has gained more respect and admiration from her peers for her years of service and commitment to the association.
Baffour Gyau was also elected as the General Secretary while Auralius Awuku was chosen as Assistant Secretary.
Saviour Kofzi still retained his position as Public Relations Officer (PRO) with Lawrencia Adika elected as Assistant PRO.
Their team assured to lead with integrity, vision, bring new perspectives and encourage better involvement within the legal profession.
