The Effutu branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to the police service to arrest those involved in the destruction of several of its billboards in the constituency. This comes after refuting allegations that it destroyed billboards belonging to National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Dr. James Kofi Annan in Winneba, central region.
According to Ellis Otabil, Communications Director for the Efutu NPP the destruction of NDC billboards is a result of permit issues with the Effutu Municipal Assembly and not partisan politics.
Mr. Otabil stated categorically that the NPP is not involved in the destruction of NDC billboards and expressed surprise that the police have made no arrests despite their official complaint since Thursday.
He warned the NDC against further destruction of NPP billboards, stating that the party will defend its properties.
The accusations come after a series of billboard destructions in Winneba, with both parties trading blame.
