The National Identification Authority through its governing board has written a letter to the Chief of Staff requesting to sell one pick-up car out-of-contract NIA boss Prof Kenneth Attafuah.
According to the letter addressed to the Chief of Staff, the NIA is seeking to sell a six-year-old used Nissan Pickup truck belonging to the NIA to Kenneth Attafuah.
In a letter signed by Abel Edusei the chairman of the NIA governing board, part of it reads, “This request is in recognition of the extraordinary sacrifices, exemplary leadership, and unparalleled devotion to duty in the implementation of the National Identification System (NIS)”.
“This is a special dispensation of appreciation for Prof. Attafuah’s remarkable services to the nation as the longest-serving Executive Secretary of the NIA. It will be noted that, as a result of Prof. Attafuah’s exceptional and highly impactful leadership of the NIA, the Ghana Card has become the cornerstone of the Government’s digitalization agenda”, the letter added.
Meanwhile, in 2017 amid the alleged missing state vehicles KB Asante, a retired diplomat and aide to former President Kwame Nkrumah, frowned upon the practice of selling state vehicles to public servants who used them, describing the practice as ‘bush.’
According to him, the vehicles must be properly auctioned to allow interested Ghanaians to buy them.
