Chief Executive of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has commended the Ghana Police Service for what he described as a high level of professionalism in the handling of Democracy Hub demonstrators.
According o him, the Ghana Police displayed a high level of tolerance and expertise in handling the demonstrators who provoked the police and destroyed public property, reinforcing Ghana’s already positive image in the international community.
“We all saw that in the face of provocation, our police remained calm and professional. This is a complete departure from previous governments where citizens exercising their rights were assaulted by the police. I commend the leadership of the police service and urge them to continue making Ghana proud among the committee of nations.”
The Democracy Hub demonstration against illegal mining turned sore as demonstrators destroyed public property, block major roads and disrupted activities at the 37 intersection.
The 3-day protests at the end, resulted in the arrest of some 42 protestors who have been refused bail, and complained about the police neglecting their duty of care to them (protestors).
