Tamale South Member of Parliament (MP), Haruna Iddrisu has unveiled his campaign ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The campaign, themed, ‘Operation 90,000 Votes for JM’ as the name suggests, seeks to poll a minimum of 90,000 votes for John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer heading into the 2024 elections.
The MP speaking at the launch of the campaign in the Tamale South Constituency said the 90,000 target was attainable, pledging to work tirelessly with the constituency’s executives to achieve the target.
According to him, this target will be made easily achievable if constituents turn out in their numbers to vote on election day.
Operation 90,000 Votes for JM’ is considered by many as overly ambitious as he has failed to deliver in similar promises in previous elections.
In 2016 and 2020, Haruna Iddrisu pledged to deliver 70,000 votes for former president John Dramani Mahama. However, in 2016, the MP garnered 51,839 votes for the NDC flagbearer and a marginal increase of about 6,000 votes in 2020.
