Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has strongly condemned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus for their failure to attend today’s emergency sitting of Parliament, accusing them of causing a financial loss to the state.
Dr. Forson pointed out that public resources were allocated to recall Parliament for the sitting, yet the NPP MPs chose to be absent, wasting taxpayer money and depriving citizens of vital legislative action.
The recall session, initiated by the Majority Caucus, was expected to address several critical issues.
However, Speaker Alban Bagbin was forced to adjourn the House indefinitely after the Majority failed to show up.
With the NPP MPs absent, the House could not meet the quorum necessary to conduct business, and there was no prepared agenda for deliberation.
Kwame Governs Agbodza, the NDC Majority Chief Whip, also accused the NPP of tricking Parliament into reconvening, claiming that their true motive was to use the session for political campaigning in the lead-up to the December elections.
