Leading Member of the Movement for Change, Lawyer Andrew Appiah Danquah, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to kickstart the impeachment process of President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the process should be initiated regardless of it succeeding or not.
“The first thing I wish they (NDC) would do, it shouldn’t matter whether they succeed or not is to start the impeachment process of the president (Akufo-Addo),” he stated.
He disclosed that in the US, there have been four (4) attempts at impeaching their presidents in their history but “not once have they succeeded in removing their president. But it will be on record that in 2024, the people of Ghana believing that Nana Addo having wantonly breached the terms of the oath he took for the people of Ghana (the people wanted to impeach him).”
Lawyer Appiah Danquah indicated that President Akufo-Addo has been unfaithful to Ghanaians by how he has managed the galamsey crisis and his “reckless appointment of people who are known NPP persons, who have been appointed to the Electoral Commission (EC), making it impossible for the EC to work objectively.”
He believes no matter how small the time is for the NDC to enjoy being the majority in parliament, they should immediately start the impeachment process of President Akufo-Addo.
