The running mate of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has said, the NDC never canceled trainee allowances.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with a radio station Prof. Jane Naana challenged anyone who claims their allowance was cancelled to come forward.
She said, “anyone who claims we cancelled his or her allowance should come and talk and let me hear, we never took anybody’s allowance, we gave a one-year notice saying coming next year they will take the loans. We send people to go and educate them in the secondary schools many applied for the loan and got them, we had to phase them out, those who had to take allowance took their allowance, before we brought in the new ones so what are they talking about?”
In the run up to the 2016 elections John Mahama and the NDC were heavily criticized by the then-opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for cancelation of allowances of Teachers and Nursing Trainees.
