The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it has given the Electoral Commission of Ghana a one-week ultimatum to act on their petition.
Sammy Gyamfi the National Communication Officer of the party made this known during an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story September 17.
“We have decided to wait for just a week to see how they would respond. It is our expectation that they would do the needful because clearly, the intransigence they are displaying is not in the interest of Ghanaians,” Gyamfi stated.
The NDC petition calls for a forensic audit of the voters register for the 2024 elections.
He added, “What you saw today is just the tip of the iceberg… we are not going to pick guns or fight anybody. We are a law-abiding political party, so we will do what the constitution of Ghana allows us to do—protest,”.
Sammy Gyamfi signaled the NDC preparedness to protest at EC district offices nationwide should the commission fail to address their petition within one week.
