The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) is set to picket at the Ministry of Education on November 20,and 21 2024, in protest over unpaid debts exceeding GH¢100 million.
The association, which supplies uniforms, housedresses, and other essentials to Senior High Schools (SHS) across the country, says the government has failed to settle outstanding payments for supplies made over the past two academic years.
In a statement released on November 12, 2024, NAIS expressed frustration over the Ministry’s failure to honour agreements made during previous meetings.
Despite promises to begin payments on April 2, 2024, the association claims the Ministry has not made any significant payments, leaving suppliers with millions of cedis in unpaid debts.
The group says the picketing will continue until their demands are met. NAIS members are calling on the Ministry of Education to clear all arrears promptly, warning of further action if the government fails to resolve the matter.
