At this point I want to believe the conspiracy theory that says NAPO is campaigning against Bawumia. Ah😂 pic.twitter.com/dedFA9dHvF

Running mate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh also known as Napo has ‘majorly goofed’ at a campaign rally at Abossey Okai.
This mistake, has raised questions as to whether he is for or against the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Napo had a great start to his campaign message, advising Ghanaians to vote against the opposition as its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama will end up taking feed from Ghana to feed the Guinea fowls which flew to Burkina Faso to the detriment of Ghanaians.
“I am pleading with you this will not be your fist election. You have carried water and alcohol and know which is which,” he told the teeming crowd.
Gathering momentum, Napo ventured into a discussion on the stability of the cedi, and eventually ended up shooting himself and Dr. Bawumia not in the foot, but in the head.
“Those of you in Abossey Okai you need one thing from government which is to stabilize the cedi. That it what will help you grow as a business.
Our brothers say they don’t understand flat tax. Yesterday my elder brother Kennedy Agyapong came to me in parliament and said Napo, I have imported some items worth 300,000 and the duty calculated is more than 150,000. That is more than 50 percent,” this is to say that the tax on importation has grown exponentially high. An increase which has been seen under the Akufo-Addo, Bawumia led government.
Napo added, “and I told him coming into the campaign, I had imported 10 cars. If God doesn’t help you travel or do business abroad, when someone tells you they want to stabilize the dollar you may not even understand.”
Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, has promised to stabilise the local currency if he is elected president in the December 7 polls. According to Dr Bawumia, his ultimate goal is to back the Cedi with the country’s gold to ensure the currency’s stability.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, addressing a gathering in February 2022, emphatically stated that the Akufo-Addo government has arrested the dollar, which was on the run prior to the NPP assuming office. “The Cedi has appreciated in value when we came in, it was running essentially, we have arrested it and the IGP has the key and locked it up; we have arrested it,” said Dr. Bawumia.
However the cedi’s arrest was short-lived as there is now a significant value gap in the cedi, against major trading currencies like the US dollar.
The Forex exchange rate was Gh4.20 to the US dollar when the NPP assumed office, but it stands now, the exchange rate is Gh15.70 to the US dollar, a significant increase from when they took over from the erstwhile Mahama administration.
