A Ghanaian market woman has accused the President Akufo-Addo led government of deception and failure.
The woman recounted campaign promises made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2016 and 2020 elections, where they promised to reduce cost of fuel and “arrest” the depreciating cedi.
According to the woman, none of these promises have been fulfilled with the cost of fuel in the country soaring, and the economic situation worsening.
“Nana what is all this ..what is all this. Nana tell me (Nana said the cost of petrol was high) say petrol 14 (Ghc), if he come I’ll give you Ghc10 (he promised to reduce it to Ghc10). Then Nana was come the petrol is Ghc60.00 (President Akufo-Addo is in power now and petrol is now Ghc60.00). This is my issue. This is my issue. This is my issue. Nana why? Nana why? You are (you have) disappoint (disappointed) me,” she cried out.
Ghana’s economy is in a free fall with inflation rising monthly, whiles the cedi depreciates against trading currencies. This has caused economic hardship in the country with Ghanaians calling on the government to take drastic and immediate actions to salvage the economy.
