Mother of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, Janice Combs, has finally reacted to her son’s arrest for alleged sex trafficking and racketeering.
Janice in a statement issued on Sunday October 6, by her lawyer, Natlie G. Figgers noted that her son was innocent of the sexual abuse allegations and is not a ‘monster’.
She admitted that her son wasn’t ‘perfect’ and had made some mistakes in his past but it still didn’t make him a ‘monster’ or bad person as most people assume at the moment.
“I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.”
“My son is not the monster they have painted him to be, and he deserves the chance to tell his side. I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated”.
“I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in the past, as we all have. My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise” she said while defending her son.
Using Diddy’s assault on his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura which was confirmed after a CCTV hotel footage went viral, Janice noted that by settling the lawsuit the day after she filed it, her son opened himself up to others wanting to go after him for financial gains.
“Him not being entirely straightforward about one issue does not mean my son is guilty of the repulsive allegations and the grave charges levelled against him,” she emphasized.
Diddy was arrested in mid-September following a grand jury’s indictment. He has pleaded not guilty to the three-count indictment and has been denied bail.
He is in jail awaiting trial and will reappear in court on Wednesday, 9 October, when his lawyers will argue for him to be released on bail.
