Ghanaian comic actor Dr. Likee, also known as Akabenezer, has announced an upcoming movie centered on illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
This follows the increasing concerns about the damaging impact of galamsey on the country’s water bodies and forests.
In a video posted on X by Sikaofficial,
the actor spoke on The Bonah Show saying, “I have a lot of content on galamsey. In fact, I have a movie on it that will be out next month,” he said. “The movie isn’t political; it’s meant to advise against galamsey because our water bodies are in terrible condition. When I travel abroad, I see how they preserve their water bodies, but ours keep deteriorating”.
The actor believes his movie is also a way for him to address the ongoing issue of illegal mining in the country.
“This is the time to talk about it. If I remain silent and don’t speak up, it may not affect me now but it may affect my unborn children” he noted.
