Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ledzokuku constituency, Hon. Benjamin Narteh Ayiku, as part of his campaign trail has been spotted driving banku for his constituents.
During a house to house campaign, the MP visited the home of a constituent preparing banku. Upon reaching the house, he demanded he be given the seat to prepare the banku for the individual.
He received cheers from his supporter as he skillfully prepared the banku.
With Ghana in a political atmosphere and during all election periods, Ghanaian politicians are seen to be doing menial tasks or tasks they wouldn’t have otherwise have done for their constituents.
However, their desire for votes and to retain power sees them pounding fufu, washing clothes, playing board games, paying for buses to take students from and bring them to school, and in this case prepare banku for constituents.
The question on the lips of many is that are they that desperate for power, or that is genuinely who they are as individuals but their busy parliamentary work does not afford them the time to regularly engage with and help their constituents in their day to day activities.
