The member of parliament for Ningo-Prampram Sam George has boldly stated mobile money had been running for 15 years in Ghana before Bawumia even thought of becoming a vice president.
According to Sam George, Bawumia never championed the mobile money interoperability initiative because it was already in existence before he came.
Speaking on TV3 New Day Sam Goerge stated, “Roland, we are in this country and MoMo has been running for 15 years before Bawumia even thought of becoming a vice president”.
“Let me tell you something before the interoperability where the Bank of Ghana under Abdul Nasiru Issahaku started the interoperability platform the Telcos allowed you to transfer money, you could transfer money from MTN to Vodafone using a token”, Sam George detailed.
Sam George further reiterated, “So, I will transfer to you, they will give you a token, and you will use the token to go to the agent and withdraw the money. Championed what, something that was already in existence before he came, what are you championing?”.
