Former Ghanaian football star, Michael Essien, has disclosed he once refused an offer to become a staff member of the Black Stars.
The former midfielder was offered a position as an assistant coach under Otto Addo but he rejected it as he was not ready to deal with the stress associated with the Black Stars.
The former Chelsea midfielder revealed he was not prepared to lead training sessions, media engagements, informing his decision to reject the offer.
“For now, I’m not considering being a head coach; it’s too stressful. Being the main man with all the media and cameras in your face is definitely not for me.
“But you never know. Maybe at some point, I would love to do it if that time comes”.
Michael Essien is currently an individual player coach at Danish Club FC.
