The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, one of Ghana’s leading and influential monarch’s has always lived a quiet life.
Very little is known about his private life, and his familiy has always been shielded from excessive public exposure.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was born Nana Barima Kwaku Duah on 6 May 1950. He was the third son and youngest of five children (three sons and two daughters) of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, Asantehemaa and Nana Kwame Boakye-Dankwa was from Kentinkyere in Ashanti and was also the Brehyia Duke of Asante.
At age five years, Otumfuo moved into the royal household of his uncle, Oheneba Mensah Bonsu, the Hiahene, enstooled in 1952, as early preparation for his future role, away from his biological father, Nana Kwame Boakye-Dankwa.
A rare picture of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his father has surfaced online, and proves that indeed the apple does not fall to far from the tree.
In the picture, young Otumfuo was wearing a white shirt and tie, standing besides his father, Nana Kwame Boakye-Dankwa.
The stark resemblance between the two was further highlighted by the smile they both shared.
