A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko, has revealed that the CEO of McDan Group Dr. Daniel McKorley salt concession can produce some $2bn of salt annually.
According to a social media post by Gabby Otchere Darko, McDan enjoyed the full support of the government and owned the largest salt concession in Africa with the capacity to produce some $2bn of salt annually.
McDan speaking at the Ghana CEO-Presidential Gala Dinner on 7 November 2024 in Accra publicly criticized the government for neglecting the private sector.
The CEO of McDan Group “I will be very blunt; government policies have really not helped the private sector. That is where we are sitting right now, and we have to be frank about it,”
“If you want to do business in Ghana, you have to be prepared. Being a Ghanaian doing business in Ghana, you have to be brave,” he stressed.
Reacting to McDan comments about government policies not helping the private sector, Gabby Otchere-Darko communicated wonder and revealed various governments for 45 years failed to commercialize salt production.
Gabby’s statement on X reads, “I am perplexed! This is from an entrepreneur who enjoyed the full support of govt to own the largest salt concession in Africa, with the capacity to produce some $2bn of salt annually; a project that for 45yrs various govts failed to commercialise. Aghast!”.
